SKY & EARTH

I painted yellow and orange papers today but the light was not great for picture taking.

Showing instead a couple sky & earth painted papers I loosely (as in not glued down) put together under a mat and IKEA frame - the other day.

Seeing how these painted papers work together is interesting & incentive to keep painting.

I used the same green earth paper in each one but switched out the sky.

The light was not good the other day either but here they are.

JUST PLAYING

I was thinking about what I want to work on next.

I've had a lot of positive feedback on the collaged 'houses' & it's been fun making them, so considering that for the next series.

The pictured collage is not glued down - simply a loose arrangement of shapes - houses, grass and sky. Trying out some ideas.

For now I have to keep painting papers, but it looks like some colorful houses are ahead.

AT REST IN THE STUDIO

It is quiet in the studio today. All is at rest.

I painted some yesterday...
unusual for me on a Saturday.

Last night I bought more paint to fill in the color gaps.

More painting this coming week.

COLOR ON THE WALL

Painted more papers today - over painted - added textures. There's much more painting to do before I'm ready to create new work.

Put some favorite painted papers up on the white wall. These were painted much earlier with the 'Basics' line of paint.

The paper palettes from yesterday & today are up on the ledge.

Now I'm looking at Inspiring textures & color combinations as I work.

Photos I took today.

PAINTING TODAY

I decided it was time to get serious about the paint.

Papers painted with the Liquitex Basics line have been set aside for workshops and friends who come to create.

Moved on to Liquitex Acrylic level 3 - high pigment load that produces rich, brilliant color. Brilliant color. That's me!

Today I started painting.

This will continue for a few days. I need a good selection of colors and textures.

Some photos we took today.

SQUARES: HERE TODAY - GONE TOMORROW

I was inspired to start a new series with squares and possibly circles within those squares. The finished pieces would fit into IKEA frames. Can selling possibly be on the horizon? Good plan.

I started this project the other day. I was using my stash of painted papers. The last step I did (not shown) was machine stitch around each square.

Then I decided, no. This is not where I want to be going with this new series.

That happens. It's OK. Let it go. Sometimes the creative process works this way.

The stitched squares wound up in the painted paper box and will no doubt be used in one of the workshops in my studio.

A new plan is on the horizon. I'm stocking up on level 3 acrylics this week. A full range of colors for this colorist!

Painting papers is just ahead. And then on to a new series I think you'll like.
